I've just spent the last 45 minutes looking over various websites that post news about Haiti. After four postponements of the presidential and legislative election, it appears that on Tuesday, February 7, the Haitian people will indeed head to the polls to decide who will lead their country. The UN security force and Haiti's electoral commission say that things are ready. Over 3 million people have received their voting cards, reportedly about 88% of those registered. Hopefully, the rest will receive their cards before the weekend. International election observers are arriving this week. American Airlines has announced it will suspend flights to Haiti on Feb 6 & 7 because there will be travel restrictions within Haiti during the election period. We thank the Lord for this event, and we thank the Lord for all the brave and patient people who have worked hard to make this a reality. Will you join in with us in prayer and fasting on February 7th? Let's ask the Lord to protect all the candidates and voters and that this will be a step towards reconciliation and justice in a country torn at all levels of society. In light of all the insecurity in the last two years, I'm positive that many feel fear and apprehension in going to the voting centers. Here are some passages for reflection and prayer on February 7: Psalms 2, 47, 95-99; Daniel 2:21, Isaiah 40-41, Luke 1:52. The Lord reigns, no matter the outcome! Our family is doing well. We have speaking engagements every weekend this month. Spiritually, mentally and physically, we feel the best we have in a long time. We have been graciously invited into a weekly adult Bible study, and Becky leads a Bible study for women, plus meets weekly with mothers to pray for their children. We appreciate the time to nurture family bonds. Thank you for your prayers for us as we wait on the Lord. J.R., Becky, Marissa and Alena Crouse Present address: Our speaking schedule is posted at: www.geneseemissions.org/gccrouse.htm We are scheduling through the end of March if you would like us to come. |
