CROUSE FAMILY UPDATE (September 2006)

Greetings from Santiago, Chile!  Yes, we made it safely and pretty much on schedule.  Thank you for your
prayers.  We're all doing OK.

The flight out of Atlanta was delayed (air traffic problems/weather) which really crunched our time in Miami.  Becky and I didn't get too much sleep on the overnight flight.  Marissa probably slept the best between her and Alena.  Alena slept quite a bit, but was constantly turning so she had to be held so as not to fall off the seat.  Marissa was able to stretch out over two seats.  She did wake up feeling sick and had to make a couple of trips to the bathroom.  She seems to be doing better.

Max McGinnis and David Roller were at the airport to pick us up.  The light of day broke as we were coming down the coast of Chile.  We saw lots of snow covered peaks...quite stunning from the air!  We made it through the immigration and customs without any hassle.  Max and David brought us directly to the Roller's apartment here in the city.  The apartment is very nice and has a spectacular view.  I'll get some pictures to you.  We had a little orientation to the apartment and then had some lunch at Kay Stott's.  She's another FM missionary that lives here in Chile.  In fact, she's lives on the 12th floor of the same building.  We're on the 20th floor.  After lunch, we all took a much needed nap.  Since then, we've been to the supermarket for some groceries (we can walk there).  I think the rest of the evening we're on our own to get settled, except we expect the superintendent of the FM work here (Karim Loyola) to be stopping in with Max.  We have all the modern conveniences....hot water, cable, internet, phones, ATM.  My debit card worked without problem at the ATM.  We'll get some phone numbers to you next time.

We're going to be very comfortable here and able to really concentrate on studying.  We'll get oriented to schooling early next week.  Before then, the immediate things for us are to get our stuff arranged in the apartment, figure how to use the transportation systems to get where we need to go over the next 2 1/2 months, and meet lots of people!!!

Feel free to write at any time.  I know you may have some questions.

Lots of love!
J.R
