Over the past few months we have come to the
realization that the Lord is leading our family
in a new direction of ministry. After two
wonderful years in Santiago, Chile, we are
preparing for the next chapter that God has for
us. What encourages us about this change is
that it blends well with the transitions of Free
Methodist World Missions and what is happening
in the church worldwide.
On January 1, 2008, Max will begin his
appointment as the senior pastor of Edgewood
Free Methodist Church in the greater Rochester
area of New York. It is a multi-campus
congregation with a profound commitment to local
and global ministry.
With deep gratitude, we thank all of you that
have supported us as missionaries in Chile.
Even though the time was shorter than we had
anticipated, we believe that many seeds were
planted and good relationships have been
developed for the future ministry of the FMC in
Chile. Your commitment of prayers and
resources will continue to bear fruit.
Some may be questioning the reason for this
change at this time. This is understandable.
As Free Methodist World Missions moves to
motivate each local church for global Kingdom
expansion, we believe, as a family, that we best
serve on the FMC team as those that engage a
local church’s ministry to reach neighbors close
by as well as neighbors far away. Our
experience in Chile provides us with the unique
ability to develop what some are calling a
‘local-global’ (or ‘glocal’) church. This is a
congregation that embodies Wesley’s vision of
seeing the world as our parish.
As we make this transition, we want to encourage
our Genesee Conference supporters, both
individuals and churches, to use this
opportunity to bolster the support of our FMWM
missionaries and Country Shares that are still
in need of funding. Moving into 2008, we are
excited about where God will have us serving and
we are glad that others will continue to serve
where He has called them to be.
Once again, we want to thank each one of you for
your partnership. Our prayer is that the Lord
will continue to use each of us to reach our
communities and the world for Christ.
