This team from
the Gowanda FM church served in San Carlos (Ciudad
Quesada), Costa Rica from July 26-August 6, 2006. The team's
primary purpose was to build relationship with the FMC in the Gamonales
neighborhood. The team put on Vacation Bible School called
Buscadores de Tesoros or Treasure Seekers - seeking after the promises
of God. Children learned that God loves them, God knows them, God
treasures them, God forgives them and that God is always with them.
More than 125 children and their parents came to VBS. By the end
of the week, 96 children and parents accepted Jesus Christ into their
hearts as Lord and Savior. Pastora Saadia, the pastor at the
Gamonales FMC, needs prayer as she suffers from diabetes and has had a
recent leg injury that will not heal. The team handed out over
1,100 gospel tracts and 400 New Testaments in the city center.
Groceries were purchased for families in need. The team also saw
God work in a mighty way when 2 passports that were stolen were
returned. The final day was spent worshipping at the Peniel (Alajuela)
FMC where Omar is the pastor. Pastor Eric preached from Psalm 25
and gave an invitation at the end of the service where one man responded
and received Christ as his Lord and Savior. What a great way to
end a trip!
