This past summer
the Edgewood teens sponsored a road trip to Pass Christian, Mississippi.
On June 26, 2006 three motor homes loaded with food, tools, luggage,
drivers, chaperones, teens, and three walkie talkies (to keep in contact
on the journey) left the EFMC parking lot for their two week Mission
Trip Adventure. They joined forces with Mike Buckley and the Fellowship
of Christian Athletes and worked where needed. While some of the teens
specialized in destruction and took down houses, fences, and trees,
others were busy cleaning, painting, repairing, and doing trim carpentry.
They also had opportunity to do some homeless ministry providing food,
underwear, encouragement, and a listening ear to the people of Pass
Christian along with praying at various sites around the city. Three of
the teens stayed on to help run a sports camp for FEMA families and to
continue with work where needed. The group had the opportunity to visit
New Orleans. The people of the Gulf Coast want the country to know there
is still much to be accomplished.
